Dough Ingredients-For the dough, you'll need flour, active dry yeast, sugar, olive oil, and salt. Kneading dough from scratch is one of my favorite activities, and while it may seem intimidating the first few times, it's really easy.

Pizza ingredients --Pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, olives, onions, jalapeños and any toppings. Personally, my favorite is the pineapple, jalapeño and bacon. Best pizza ever! 🙂

This recipe makes two small pizzas. If you just want pizza, you can freeze half of the dough.

If you prefer, you can use 1-pound frozen dough balls from the grocery store instead of making your own. If you go this route, divide the dough into two balls to form circles six inches in diameter. This will save you a lot of energy and time, and you might even end up with a delicious pizza!

How to make pizza in the air fryer:

Pizza Without a Fryer | Air Fryer Network (3)
  • make your cake– Put warm water and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer. Sprinkle with yeast and let it brew (meaning everything will be bubbly), about 10 minutes. Once the mixture starts bubbling, it's time for the next step. Add the flour, oil and salt to the mixture and knead the dough with a dough hook. If the dough won't work, add a few tablespoons of flour until the dough comes together. Let the dough rise for an hour in an oiled bowl, then place in the oven with the light on but not the heat.
  • hit the cake– Once the dough has risen, take it out of the oven and beat it with your fist to remove the air. Divide dough into 2 balls. Use your hands to squeeze and stretch the dough into a disc about 7 inches in diameter. Keep it as round as possible throughout. After shaping to your liking, place on top of the workpieceparchment. (A perforated air fryer is great, but as you can see from my photos, plain parchment will do.)
  • add extra content- Start by adding pizza sauce to each pizza, spreading it almost to the edges, leaving enough room for the dough. Garnish with toppings, starting with cheese, at your discretion. Try arranging them so each bite has the flavor you want.
  • Air Fryer Pizza– Remove the basket from the preheated air fryer and place the pizza in the air fryer along with the parchment paper. Fry at 400°F for 6 minutes. Check that it is cooked to your liking and continue cooking every minute if necessary. Remove pizza to cutting board and repeat cooking for second pizza. Slice and serve when ready!

Be careful when putting the dough into the fryer!

You'll need a flat, strong, nice spatula to transfer the batter - the hardest part, but definitely doable. Be sure to use parchment paper so you can slide the spatula under the cake without it sticking. The parchment doesn't need to be much larger than the shell, if it is too large it will block airflow.

Also, the basket will be hot and you want it to stay hot. Therefore, you must be quick and careful when moving the dough.

common problem:

Why does my air fryer need special parchment paper?

No matter what you're cooking, an air fryer works by constantly moving hot air from all directions. Using plain parchment will impede air flow at the bottom of the dish you're making. Parchment fryer paper allows air to flow through the paper, ensuring a higher quality fryer. Regular parchment paper works well for this pizza recipe, but many recipes call for special paper.

Can I Freeze Homemade Pizza?

Yes, but it is better to freeze the dough without additives. You can lightly brush the dough balls with olive oil and place them in freezer bags. This should be maintained for at least 10 weeks. When ready to use, thaw in the refrigerator the day before using.

Does pineapple go with pizza?

Absolutely! Pineapple adds a sweet and sour flavor that goes well with other savory toppings like ham, pepperoni or bacon. It's also good with a little spice. Try the Pineapple Jalapeno Bacon Pizza and you'll see what we mean!

Recipe Tips!

You can use any cheese mixture you like for your pizza. We often go for a glass of mozzarella and finish it off with some parmesan or cheddar.

Pepperoni is a classic, but you can get creative with the toppings. My personal favorite is the crumbled bacon, jalapeno slices, and tiny pineapple pieces. Sweet, salty, sour and cheesy in every bite!
