ABC Lyrics

As a former Kindergarten teacher, I cannot stress enough how important it is to teach the ABC Alphabet Song to children before they enter Kindergarten. With this in mind, don't assume your child "knows the ABCs" just because they can sing.

Reciting a song, recognizing lyrics, and making sounds are entirely different skills. However, if they know the song before kindergarten, they will be interested in learning the sounds of the letters and the order of the letters. Therefore, when learning the alphabet, children who can sing the ABC alphabet song will be better at singing while tracing and pointing to the alphabet, which will naturally increase their recognition.

If you're looking for ways to learn letter sounds and initials, check out this blog post:5 engaging exercises to prime the sound.

Poems of five little spotted frogs

Five small spotted frogs sit on a spotted tree trunk.

Eat the tastiest bugs (yum, yum!)

Jumping into a swimming pool alone, it's nice and cool there

Now there are four spotted green frogs

Four small spotted frogs on a spotted tree trunk.

Eat the tastiest bugs (yum, yum!)

Jumping into a swimming pool alone, it's nice and cool there

Now there are three spotted green frogs

Three small spotted frogs sit on a spotted tree trunk.

Eat the tastiest bugs (yum, yum!)

Jumping into a swimming pool alone, it's nice and cool there

Now there are two spotted green frogs

Two small spotted frogs sit on a speckled log.

Eat the tastiest worms (yum, yum!)

How many frogs are there now? one!

A small spotted frog sits on a speckled log

I eat the tastiest worms. (Yes Yes!)

He jumped in the pool, it was cold and cold

There were no spotted frogs then! Stupid, ghoul!
